ACE Logistics Estonia in collaboration with their customers has supported talented youngsters via The Estonian Union for Child Welfare Foundation since 2016.
We decided to continue supporting talented young people acquiring basic or secondary education, and this year we will once again contribute 10,000 euros through the Estonian Union for Child Welfare Foundation. The main purpose of the scholarship is to support the child and expand their opportunities for further development of their talent.
This year, the focus of the Estonian Union for Child Welfare Foundation is on hobby education and supporting the mental health of the youngsters. “What if, at a time when we are complaining about the poor mental health of children and the lack of specialists, hobbies are one of the straws that currently exists, which have the power to help many youngsters?” explained Triin Sooäär, head of the Youth Council of the Child Welfare Foundation. “Our scholarship is a support, aimed to contribute to the development of youngsters’ talents. As the holding of competitions and contests is somewhat under question this year, too, we will pay more attention to applications for payment of tuition fees for hobby schools,” added Ene Tomberg, President of the Estonian Union for Child Welfare Foundation.
In the past, a lot of applications have been received for continuing sports activities, including participation in international competitions and training camps. It was a pleasure to read that Estonian youth engages in so many different sports, such as football, fencing, basketball, skiing, gymnastics, swimming, cycling, dancing, etc. The second largest group was applicants for music, including master classes and international competitions, and applications for participation in subject Olympiads and preparation for university. Many children come from families with multiple children or are having financial difficulties, and without support it is quite hard to continue a journey that has already begun in the world of sport or music.
“Last year was difficult for everyone, children practically had no opportunities to participate in hobbies, sports or any other competitions. That is why we will continue to support children this year, too. We are pleased that the Estonian Union for Child Welfare Foundation pays more attention to supporting children’s hobby education and, through it, also the mental health of young people.” comments Andres Matkur, CEO of ACE Logistics Estonia AS, on the support decision.
For our part, we very much hope that ACE’s contribution will help talented young people to become even better in their field, so that they can introduce Estonia to the rest of the world through music, art or sports. Supported children and their parents have also sent us great success stories of children’s achievements, which we also share in our blog with our readers.
